There’s a Chinese proverb that says, “When sleeping women wake, mountains move.”
If we know what is going on in our world, we can be part of God’s solution on this earth. Too often, we are ignorant or feel overwhelmed by the number of crises and issues in our world. God’s intent is not that we are paralyzed, but mobilized. We were created as part of God’s solution for the challenges of our time. Just like Queen Esther, we have been created, at this time in history, for such a time as this.
There are women and children in our world who are suffering. Many of them carry loads that are beyond their capacity. We, however, have the ability to come alongside them and help carry the load.
Galatians 6:2 (NIV) says, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
One way we can make a powerful impact is through prayer. Jesus said, “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” (Mark 11:17, NIV) As you read some of the stories in this issue, you may feel sad, overwhelmed, even angry. Turn this into a prayer and ask the God of the Universe to let justice flow and break your heart with what breaks His heart.
As we pray, however, we will inevitably discover that our hearts are moved and changed and we cannot stay the same. We simply have to take action and be part of the solution.
Women of the world, it is time to wake up. There are mountains to move.
Personal reflection:
Prayer:
Lord, we bring our offering of prayer. Our faith may be the size of a mustard seed, but we want to move mountains. There are men, women and children in our world and in my community who are suffering and I want to do my part to help move the mountains that keep them from living life as You intended. I know that as I do this, You are faithful to also move the mountains in my own world. Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening.

Thank you so much for this encouraging reminder about the necessity for and the power of PRAYER! Especially the power of a praying woman. Being a “doer”, it is always a struggle for me to be still and know that He is God…yet my strongest spiritual gift is that of prayer (I’m sure part of the challenge is due to the opposition).
After years of service and employment with a wonderful church that focuses on planting ministries around the world, I have moved into a new era in my life. I believe the Lord has called me into what I describe as a Galilean experience. The best way I can describe it is “walking through the marketplace taking it captive to the Lord through intercession and relationship development”. This stage of my life has been developing over the past three years, and I have been blessed to be part of so many life changing experiences, including the baptism of a family, on-going sharing with a Jehovah’s Witness, finding favor among men and women who are leading a gay lifestyle and are open to hearing about Jesus.
The community that the Lord has planted me in is very unique in that it is located in an area that is rooted in spirituality that has springboarded off of the local indiginous people’s (my people’s) paganistic past. Their practices included human sacrifices among other things. Unfortunately, because we are part of the modern western ized world, this part of our culture has been very romanticized, which has fueled spiritual practices such as new age, pagan worship, and witchcraft.
But I believe that the harvest is plentiful, all they need is the wonderful, freeing truth. I know that this can only be accomplished through the foundation of committed prayer. My continual prayer is that the Lord would roll back the darkness over this place and that He would pour out His spirit on these people (His people), like fresh oil from heaven. That He would open the eyes of their hearts that they might see Him. And that I would be used as a conduit of his gracious love and compassion! Thank you Jesus!
Thank you also for this wonderful e-zine. I have been blessed by it since I started this Galilean journey, and I cannot express the way I have been supported and encouraged by the experiences of the women who contribute to this site. God Bless!
What a beautiful approach to mountain-moving faith. If we all what we can to move a ‘mountain’ we will see transformation taking place in society. God is faithful!
thank you so much for your encouraging words! We love hearing about your journeys …
